Typically, a new video game experiences a slight tumble in player count after its first few days on the market, a period when the most die-hard fans buy in at launch. In the case of Galactic Racer, however, momentum is only building. The game has steadily maintained its audience throughout the initial week, and just surpassed its all-time peak concurrent player count today.
On launch day, Galactic Racer peaked at 15,415 concurrent players on Steam. As of today, that figure reached 16,866, a 9.4% increase just five days post-release. What makes this rise even more impressive is that the developer has yet to release any major patches or post-launch updates.

The game’s strong word-of-mouth momentum among critics and fans is clearly reflected in digital store metrics: Galactic Racer is currently still holding the #1 top-selling spot in North America, outpacing both the latest Gears of War entry and the recent blockbuster AION 2.

Beyond topping sales charts, Galactic Racer has also claimed the top spot on Steam’s popular searches, a strong signal that a wave of prospective buyers is actively looking at whether the game justifies its $60 price tag.
