When the phenomenon K-Pop: Demon Hunters completely took over streaming screens, it did more than just break records. On February 4th, LEGO confirmed a collaboration with K-Pop: Demon Hunters, announcing one set for this year and more coming in 2027.
However, when LEGO officially announced its very first tie-in set just this week, a wave of disappointment and worry rippled through the fandom. Thankfully, a new leak suggests that LEGO has a plan for 2027 that addresses those concerns and gives fans exactly what they have been wishing for.
The community’s initial anxiety came from the reveal of set 72537 Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird. While the brick-built version of Jinu’s Haetae tiger looks absolutely precious, it completely left out the best part of the movie because it didn’t include a single figure for the girls. The set would have been the perfect opportunity to include a stand alone figure of Rumi.
Fans and media outlets were heartbroken. In fact, Brick Fanatics highlighted this exact frustration, pointing out how disappointing it was for LEGO to release yet another gorgeous buildable character set without a single figure to go with it. It left fans deeply worried that we might not get any proper LEGO figures.
That worry completely vanished thanks to a massive rumor shared on Reddit and Instagram by a reliable community insider known as BrickTap. According to the leak, K-Pop: Demon Hunters will feature an extensive lineup in 2027 that offers the absolute best of both worlds. The theme is expected to include a roster of figures designed in both the iconic LEGO style and mini-dolls.
To pull this off, LEGO is reportedly splitting the sets into two formats for the theme. If they follow the strategy of the Wicked lineup, the more affordable playsets will use the mini-doll format, which is the style from the LEGO Friends and Disney Princess lines. This is a welcome choice for fashion lovers, as the mini-doll silhouette is well-suited for capturing the slender stage outfits and distinct hairstyles of the K-Pop: Demon Hunters cast.
Meanwhile, the larger display sets will feature traditional, blocky LEGO minifigures. We see this exact strategy in the Wicked lineup, where the sets retailing over $100, like the Emerald City Wall Art (75685) and the Glinda & Elphaba Bookends (75691), feature only traditional minifigures, while the other cheaper sets include mini-dolls. This hybrid approach ensures that no matter which style of figure you prefer, you get an accurate and recognizable version of the group.
Possible 2027 lineup
By looking at the scenes fans have rewatched the most according to Netflix, we can get a clear idea of potential sets heading our way. While a set featuring the HUNTR/X group is a given, a release including the Saja Boys is a high possibility.
A third potential concept could be a diorama based on the scene where Rumi soars on the golden ring. The set would include Rumi with the golden ring, the main stage, and the background wall of the main stage with the tree silhouettes. A display piece like this would pair perfectly on a shelf right next to her pet, Derpy.
Will these be the only sets?
Some casual viewers might worry that a movie theme like this could be a one-off occurrence, since streaming titles haven’t always received a lot of sets. However, that has shifted in recent years. Properties like The Mandalorian, Stranger Things, and One Piece have all inspired multiple successful LEGO waves. Given the record-breaking viewership numbers for K-Pop: Demon Hunters, this theme has a clear path to being just as popular and long-lasting as those other streaming hits.
