With user scores on Metacritic finally live, the outlook for Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine is taking another hit. Following lukewarm-to-negative impressions from major outlets, and high-profile creators like Kai Cenat, fans hoped the casual player base might turn the tide. That has not been the case.
The game initially debuted with a Metacritic user score of 6.8, sitting nearly 1 point beneath its critic average. Within hours, however, that figure tumbled even further to a dismal 6.4 rating.

To put this decline into perspective, Insomniac’s long-standing benchmark low belongs to 2013’s Fuse, which holds a 6.0 user score alongside a 6.2 critic rating. Other rare stumbles for the studio include 2012’s Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault, which sits at a 7.0 average.
By comparison, Insomniac’s modern superhero catalog enjoyed far warmer receptions: 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man earned an 8.7 user score directly matching its critic rating, 2023’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 followed closely with an 8.6, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales logged a respectable 7.6 score.
With user reviews still flooding in and trending downward by the hour, Marvel’s Wolverine is now dangerously close to eclipsing Fuse for the lowest user score in Insomniac’s history.
