Fuse Games’ Star Wars: Galactic Racer has officially claimed the #1 top-selling spot on Steam in the United States and secured a top 2 position globally. The impressive launch performance comes as a surprise due to another highly anticipated game fully releasing on the same day providing intense launch-day competition to squeeze the title’s PC sales performance.

Defying Launch-Day Expectations
Heading into launch day, many questioned how well the game was going to do on its release window. The title launched alongside major anticipated releases, including Gears of War: E-Day, which dropped on Steam the exact same day.
Furthermore, because Galactic Racer features arcade handling designed primarily with gamepads in mind (Steam even displays a prompt recommending players plug in a controller before launching) initial skepticism suggested the title might struggle on PC. However, sales momentum built rapidly: the game maintained a firm grip on Steam’s top 7 over the past week before surging straight to the #1 spot just hours prior to launch.
Critical Acclaim Meets PC Technical Friction
The commercial surge has been largely propelled by strong early reviews, with critics and players praising the fast-paced campaign, extensive vehicle customization, and high-stakes racing mechanics.
Despite the popularity, launch day hasn’t been entirely smooth. A notable segment of Steam community members have reported startup errors, with player comments highlighting issues where the game fails to boot or freezes on a black screen. A secondary bug causing muffled or unusually low audio output has also drawn widespread complaints.
These day-one friction points initially dragged the game’s Steam user score to a 74% “Mostly Positive” rating, though that score has already been steadily climbing back up over the past hour as more players jump in. Developer Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode have yet to issue an official hotfix, leaving affected players waiting on a day-one stability patch.
